The
more tightly we entrench a new piece of information we already know, the more
likely we can remember it. People who have sharp associations linked to their
memories are more likely to remember them. The more we sort out our
environment, the more we recollect it.
Science
and art of memory involves developing a capacity to link unrelated facts and
ideas. The more facts and ideas at our disposal, the better we develop new
ideas. One needs the right piece of information at the proper moment. Invention
is the capability of inventorying. To invent, one needs a property inventory, a
bank of ideas to draw on. This involves finding the right piece of information
at the right moment.
Regardless of age, top achievers practice
focusing their technique. This includes goal orientation and getting immediate feedback
on their performance. To improve mental performance, how you spend time
practicing is more important than the amount of time spent. Regular practice
isn’t enough. We have to fail and learn from our mistakes. Here are quotations
from Doctor Albert Einstein.
"Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more
complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move
in the opposite direction.
Imagination is more
important than knowledge.
Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love.
I want to know God's thoughts; the rest are details.
Reality is merely an
illusion, albeit a very persistent one.
The only real
valuable thing is intuition.
A person starts to
live when he can live outside himself.
I am convinced that He (God) does not play dice.
Weakness of attitude becomes weakness of character.
The eternal mystery of the world is
its comprehensibility.
Science without religion is lame.
Religion without science is blind.
Anyone who has never made a mistake
has never tried anything new.
Great spirits have often encountered
violent opposition from weak minds.
The only thing that interferes with
my learning is my education.
God does not care about our
mathematical difficulties. He integrates empirically.
Peace cannot be kept by force. It
can only be achieved by understanding.
We can't solve problems by using the
same kind of thinking we used when we created them.
Education is what remains after one
has forgotten everything he learned in school."
